start your own garment company. Because of what we had learned in the industry we were eventually able to start offering our T-shirt designs not only to our local city but start marketing them nationally throuN
gh mail-order.
rinter would send the job back in about 1-2 weeks we would deliver the garments and collect our money. To our surprise, given that we were a 3 person operation, we would collect anywhere from $150.00 to $400.00L
depending on the size of the order. This was not bad for the amount of time that we had to spend on the project ourselves.
Feeling Good
We hope that this information has been helpful to you in trying to
n that we had acquired and establish a good working relationship with a good contract screen printer. After that we would spend about 3-7 hours (depending on the complexity) on getting the design completed and J
separated (You save money when you separate yourself). Once finished with that step we would send the design to the contract screen printer and the rest was history.
Collecting The Money
When the screen p
ospect during lunch hour or just after we would get off work. It used to be somewhat of a hassle to get the customer a quote within a decent range of time. However, once we created this database we could get a H
quote ready in just a matter of minutes. I could then fax the estimate from my powerbook or go home at lunch and fax it then.
Doing The Jobs
Once we got an order we were able to take the vendor informatio
screen printer where they would either provide the garments or we would ship them to the contract screen printer.
Running The Shop
Running the shop was something that we could do, often times in our sparF
e time (seeing that we all had jobs during the day). We would get calls during the day and then call our answering machine and get the messages. If there were any quote or estimate requests we would call the pr
ses, started our shop in our home and are still working there. We knew we did not want to make a large investment in equipment and also knew that we wanted more options. By using contract screen printers, all wD
e had to do was have artists (In the beginning that was us.) create designs, then either take them to a service bureau or print the separated designs ourselves. All we had to do next was send them to a contract
